Housing Plus, working in partnership with South Staffordshire Housing Association, is asking local people to suggest a name for a major new housing complex in Cannock.
The development, which is located off Walkmill Lane, comprises of 83 two-bedroomed apartments for the over 55’s. Most will be available for rent whilst 13 will be available to part rent, part buy.
The complex will provide affordable apartments, allowing older people to live independently with the added reassurance of having staff on site 24 hours a day. Extra support and personal care will also be available for those that require it. Residents will benefit from on-site facilities including two lounges, a dining area, hobby rooms and a sensory garden.
South Staffordshire Housing Association already has developments in Cornwall Road, Cherry Tree Road and Coulthwaite Way and this new scheme represents another significant investment in the area.
County Councillor Matthew Ellis commented “The new development is due to be completed in September 2010 and is another vital step forward in the provision of quality care for the people of Staffordshire.”
The competition will be judged by Housing Plus in conjunction with Cannock Chase Council and Cannock County Council.
Debbie Griffiths, chief executive of Housing Plus said “We are pleased to be moving forward with this major development which will offer fantastic facilities to older residents. We hope that local people will get involved in coming up with a name and look forward to hearing their suggestions.”
Entries should be submitted to: Housing Plus, Acton Court, Acton Gate, Stafford ST18 9AP or email news@housing-plus.co.uk. The closing date for entries is 31st December 2009.
