The flags were hoisted by Councillor Phil Freeman from Cannock Chase Council; County Councillor Matthew Ellis of Staffordshire County Council; Debbie Griffiths, CEO of Housing Plus; and Jo Grainger, head of care and support at Care Plus.
The event, held at Vine Court in Bridgtown; the first Care Plus development due to open in October, heralded a new vision for care in our region, a vision that the company says is simply to ‘make every day amazing’ for its customers. Care Plus bosses believe this can be achieved by developing a culture where the decision making sits with the customer and customers are treated as individuals with different standards, routines and lifestyles; ensuring freedom and independence throughout life.
This new vision is likely to be welcomed in the region given reports in Carers Week that suggested only 1% of West Midlanders rate current care services as excellent.
Debbie Griffiths, CEO of Housing Plus explains: “The Care Plus vision works by putting the individual at the heart of everything we do; making sure our tailored care, wellbeing and support packages fit in with their current lifestyle and work together to make them feel fabulous. Essentially, it’s about people not seeing professional care or independent living schemes as the last choice, or as an admission or defeat, but more about a positive step towards a new stage in their lives.
“We’d like to thank Councillor Phil Freeman, County Councillor Matthew Ellis and other colleagues and stakeholders for joining us on this very special day.”
