Passion pays off for enthusiastic housing officer

A familiar and friendly face amongst the community in Staffordshire, Becky is dedicated to ensuring SSHA tenants have the support, advice and information whenever they need it.

Debbie Griffiths, Chief Executive of Housing Plus comments: “Becky has recently taken on the role as Resident Involvement Officer and has definitely made her mark already. She is always smiling and enthusiastic about what she is doing and is passionate about assisting the residents, making their lives better and often going the extra mile.

“Becky’s passion comes through as she talks to you, and it is evident that she wants to help create the best environment within her housing developments. She is a very good ambassador for the SSHA and the Housing Plus Group and we’d like to congratulate her for this award and thank her for her dedication.”

SSHA is a member of The Housing Plus Group. Together the two organisations work to provide quality affordable housing for the people of the region. Employees from across the Group are asked to vote for colleagues who have successfully shown commitment to the Group’s key values; passion, trust, learning and customer focus. Becky was nominated for portraying passion and the judging panel agreed she had excelled at doing so.

Becky comments: “I was completely shocked to have been voted as the winner of the Housing Plus Employee of the Year. It was even better to know that I was chosen by my colleagues and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone. The work I do relies on strong team-work and my success is definitely because of our combined efforts.”

As part of her prize Becky was asked to nominate the 2010 corporate charity, she chose the local Young Carers Project from Carers Association Southern Staffordshire (CASS) because of the great work they do looking after the regions young carers.

Becky explains: “Young carers often carry a lot of responsibility in looking after someone who has a disability or health problem and this charity offers them guidance and advice on how to cope. I wanted to choose a local charity that assisted young people because I really believe they deserve acknowledgment for what they do and need rewarding for all their hard work.”
