Top regional building award for homes in Hednesford

Housing Plus’ excellent work at its Cornwall Mews development in Hednesford, Cannock, has been acclaimed at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Staffordshire County Awards.

Housing Plus and its building partner, Jessup, won the category for Residential New Build (under 10 units) beating off stiff competition. The awards celebrate the excellence of building and design quality in a variety of projects from large commercial developments, education and housing projects to domestic refurbishment, along with awards for technical innovation, best partnership and sustainability. The LABC represents local authority building control departments across England and Wales.

The Cornwall Mews development on Cornwall Road in Hednesford, designed by S.P Faizey architects, comprises eight top-of-the-range two, three and four bedroom rental properties. The properties are all highly energy efficient and have been built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 with air source heat pumps, low capacity baths, energy efficient lighting, water butts, composters and permeable paving installed at the site.

Ursula Bennion, director of business development for Housing Plus, comments: “At Housing Plus we strive to exceed the expectations of our residents and local communities for affordable housing. Building and maintaining the highest standards of homes across the region is our top priority and to be recognised for this at such a high level is fantastic.”
